Behind the Scenes, Vista Unified School District (in North San Diego County) Plans for Union Project Labor Agreement
The Project Labor Agreement explosion that has given unions monopoly control of construction contracts in many public education districts "south of the 8" in San Diego County is now moving into the formerly conservative "North County" communities.
On June 4, 2019, the Vista Unified School District will hold a "Superintendents Advisory Committee on Project Labor Agreements (PLAs)" meeting from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the District Office Board Room, 1234 Arcadia Avenue in Vista. This meeting has not been announced to the public, as far as we know.
A presentation will be made in support of Project Labor Agreements by Tom Lemmon, Business Manager and/or Carol Kim, Political Director, San Diego County Building and Construction Trades Council. A presentation will be made in opposition to PLAs by Brad Barnum, Executive Vice President, Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter.
Where's the scheduled presentation by the Coalition for Fair Employment in Construction, a group that for 21 years has specialized in opposing Project Labor Agreements? There is none. Unfortunately, our presentation will need to be unplanned.
