Be Smart, Vista Unified School District! School Board to Decide on Project Labor Agreement

In November 2018, voters in the Vista Unified School District approved Measure LL, which authorizes the school district to borrow $247 million for school construction.

On June 11, the residents of the Vista Unified School District were first informed that their school board was planning to give unions a monopoly on jobs for construction contracts funded by Measure LL bond proceeds. The school board issued a public notice informing the public that it would vote on September 12 to require its construction contractors to sign a Project Labor Agreement with unions.

On June 20, the Superintendent convened a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Project Labor Agreements. The Coalition for Fair Employment in Construction participated in this meeting.

Now, the district's elected board of trustees is discussing a Project Labor Agreement during a study session at its August 15 meeting.

The Coalition for Fair Employment in Construction is informing the people of the Vista Unified School District about the costly Project Labor Agreement proposal with phone calls, advertising on websites and social media, and a website.
